Navel Oranges were discovered in Brazil in 1820. They were grown in a monastery, and were a result of a mutation of a sweet orange. A cutting was sent to Washington DC around 1870 for propagation. That is how the name, the Washington Navel orange developed. They were distributed all over the US and found a home in California because they grew the best in the climate. Riverside California is one of the leading parts of California where navel oranges come from. Therefore there is a Navel orange that bears the name Riverside, however there are other kinds of Navels such as; Cara Cara, Lane Late, Fukumoto, Skaggs Bonanza and Robertson.
The orange has the name Navel because they have a small depression or hole at the bottom of the orange that looks like a human navel. The navel actually encloses an underdeveloped secondary fruit.
When buying the fruit, don't worry about the color for a little brown or green on the rind will not affect whether or not it is ripe. However, you should look for a heavy in hand feel that will make the orange good and juicy. Also look for a firm orange. Spongy is not good, nor is mold on one.
Once you bring the orange home store it in the vegetable bin and it will last for a good month. You can store it out of the refrigerator for no more than a week, but it must be no more than one week and the area must be a cool dark place. The best thing about the Navel oranges is that they are sweet, seedless, loaded with vitamin C, and are very easy to peel. The season of the Navel orange spans from November to April.

Paloma Picasso's jewelry career began in 1968, when she was a costume designer in Paris. Some rhinestone necklaces she had created from flea market finds brought positive attention from critics, and she enrolled in a jewelry course. Soon, Yves Saint Laurent asked her to design accessories to accompany one of his collections, and by 1971 she was working for the Greek jewelry company Zolotas.^[1]

She also designed sets for playwright and director Rafael Lopez-Cambil (also known as Rafael Lopez-Sanchez), whom she later married.

Hermes was always known for quality and design. It is a company that originally made saddles and bridles for horses in 1914 in Paris. Today it is a leader not only in leather goods, but also fashion. The one handbag that still stands out is the Kelly bag renamed for actress, Grace Kelly in 1956 . It was first designed in 1935.
The bag can be purchased in calf skin, lizard, ostrich or crocodile in 7 different sizes. The crocodile bag featured below measures 28 cm (11.5 x 8 x 5 inches), and can cost as much as 30 thousand dollars. There are few made, and needless to say the bag is extremely difficult to find. The original crocodile version was made from two Nile Crocodiles from Zimbabwe of the reptile jowls and belly. It has been said the the newer ones made are from South American crocodile. I have seen a few used ones advertised on Ebay for prices starting at 10 thousand dollars and a bright pink one for thirty thousand. Not only is it the condition of it that dictates the price, it is also the color and age. Another fun fact to point out is that Hermes started to design their famous silk scarfs in 1937. It is not every day when a super star comes along. I am proud to say that this is one from New York City, and her successful career has only just begun. Lady Gaga is a theatrical dance-pop performer whose debut single, the international chart-topping hit "Just Dance," established her as an up-and-coming superstar upon its release in 2008. Born Stefani Germanotta on March 28, 1986. She started playing piano at the age of 4 and had plans of going to the prestigious Julliard School in Manhattan. She ended up going to the famous and very prestigious Convent of Sacret Heart School and got straight "A's" and moved on to NYU at the age of 17 where she studied music. She had changed her name when it was misprinted in an email. Known to be a very flashy and outrageous in her costumes helps pinpoint the confidence that she has. Not many people would dare wear some of the costumes that she has worn. One of her costumes worn at the 2010, 52nd Grammy Award cermonies was designed specially for her by Armani.
The outrageous costumes help make her stand out even more as an artist. Lady GaGa won her first Grammy in 2010 for the best electronic dance album. Conan O'Brien No Longer on The Tonight Show

There have been many reports in the media stating that Conan will be giving up his post at the Tonight Show for a 30 million dollar fee. Only those behind the closed doors really know the situation, but where will he go if it is true? I never thought that Conan was the best choice for hosting the Tonight Show. I love Conan and have been staying up late every night to watch his shows. When he moved to LA I thought that he was not the kind of guy to really get into LA. I did give him the benefit of a doubt, but I did not feel that he was truly himself on the show. His early shows had him at Universal Studios talking to the tourists. Conan is really funny and it appeared to me that he was in full control of his comedy. I might point out that this past week he has been the funniest that I have seen him in a long time. There are suggestions that Leno will return to the Tonight Show and Conan will be free to move on. I think cable such as Comedy Central or HBO will be best. Tupperware is not the same as what it was when I was growing up. Today, the colors are vibrant and containers come in many shapes and sizes, unlike the basic white and basic bowls with lids. Every one remembers Marlo Thomas as the star of "That Girl" (1966-1971). She was featured on the cover of TV Guide. St Jude's Hospital was a project that her father Danny Thomas had started to help children who have cancer. The hospital is a reasearch and treatment center. Marlo has stepped into her father's shoes to help raise money for the hospital. Hilary Swank at "Amelia" Movie Premiere in NYC

Fox held the movie premiere for "Amelia", starring Hilary Swank in Manhattan at the Paris theatre on 58th street, just off of Fifth Ave., and across from the Plaza Hotel. It was a beautiful night for the stars to celebrate this film about the pilot Ameila Earhart (1897-1937). Hillary looked radiant, and was a very down to earth. She loved the press, and the press loved her. There is a lot of buzz about this film, and suggesting that Hilary may get another Oscar nod. We certainly hope so. Photo, JoAnna Levenglick
